Every Soul
I · The Passing
I meet people every day,
on days at work and also on holidays,
on the open streets and within closed doors,
some superficial, some I know to their core.
We pass each other, as we come and go,
never wondering about, what lies below,
just a face, a name, a role that they play,
another soul we brush along the way.
But have you really thought, have you thought deep,
each one of us is special, a precious keep?
When you know someone, when you spend the time,
it's about them as a whole, their deeds and their crime.
Beneath the surface lies a life unseen,
a heart that has loved, a soul that has been,
through storms and stillness, through loss and light,
a whole universe living out of our sight.
God made each one with the finest care,
a unique spirit beyond compare,
no two the same on this entire earth,
each soul a masterpiece from its birth.
The more you know them, the more you find,
that every ordinary person is one of a kind,
their laugh, their struggle, their distinct pace,
a world of their own existing behind their face.
You get to love them, you begin to see,
how rare they are, how they were meant to be,
so look a little longer, stay a little more,
there is always something precious we might miss of their core.
Every soul that walks this earth today,
was made with intention,
and God made them that way.
